Nose aesthetic procedures are called rhinoplasty. Septorhinoplasty, on the other hand, is a nasal surgery performed for the nose to breathe better and at the same time to have a natural and aesthetic appearance. The purpose of septorhinoplasty is to improve the nose both aesthetically and functionally.

The function of the nose is to intake breathe. For this reason, aesthetic operation alone is not considered sufficient, and being able to breathe well is considered to be the most important factor in rhinoplasty.

Natural Nose Aesthetics

Recently, the concept of aesthetic nose in humans has changed considerably. About 10 years ago, people who thought of having a nose surgery preferred a more curved, upturned and nose that appears to be intervened.  In recent years, patients prefer more natural looking noses.

Rhinoplasty examination

In the examination before rhinoplasty, aesthetic problems as well as complaints such as sinusitis, breathing difficulties and allergies are taken into consideration and surgery planning is made after a detailed examination.

First of all, our patients are examined visually. An interview is made about what the aesthetic problem in the nose is and the expectation of the patient. At this point, the expectations and wishes of the patient are of great importance. At the same time, patient expectations should not contradict the face type and nasal functions. For this reason, after the photograph of the patient is taken, a detailed evaluation is made with the patient and a decision is taken together.

Before rhinoplasty surgery, patients should be informed about what to pay attention to before and after surgery, the complications that may occur, the recovery time and what processes that they will undergo. At this point, it is very important that the physician who will perform the operation guides the patient correctly for the patient’s satisfaction and a healthy process.

The nose is evaluated in functional aspect with the examination regarding the appearance. For this reason, internal examination of the nose is also performed. It is determined whether there are factors that make breathing difficult in the inner part of the nose. During the internal examination; Whether there is a curvature in the nose, the size of the nasal concha, the presence of sinusitis can be diagnosed. When necessary, radiological imaging systems are also used.

Rhinoplasty suitable for face type

Some patients can apply for aesthetics with a nose photo of a celebrity or a person he/she admires. However, not every nose type offers an aesthetic appearance for everyone. A nose that looks beautiful in one person may not look good on another person. Because everyone’s face type is different, and each nose is unique in itself. For this reason, a nose that best suits the face type and symmetry and looks natural should be designed for ideal rhinoplasty and the surgery should be planned accordingly.

Techniques Used in Rhinoplasty Surgery

The operation method used can also vary depending on the procedure to be performed in rhinoplasty. For example, if an operation is to be performed on the tip of the nose, open technique is preferred. If no intervention to the tip of the nose will be made and patients who are suitable for the operation from the inside of the nose, surgery can be performed with a closed technique.

In addition, methods such as breaking the nasal bone with a hammer and using large tampons were left behind. With the new technologies, the tools used in rhinoplasty operations have changed. A leaf-shaped silicone splint is used, through which air passes through during the operation. In this way, the patient can easily breathe immediately after the operation.

Anesthesia in Aesthetic Nose Surgery

Rhinoplasty surgeries can take about 2 hours. General anesthesia is typically used, except for surgeries in which very small touches are made. Even if the anesthesia method to be used in the surgery is local anesthesia, the operation should be performed in the operating room, not in the outpatient clinic.

Recovery after rhinoplasty surgery

Thanks to the fact air passes through the splint used in the surgery, the patient can breathe through the nose immediately after the operation. Swelling, bruising and edema can be seen on the face for a while after the operation. Such complications and recovery time varies from person to person depending on factors such as skin type etc. The nasal bone is shaped, not broken during surgery. Since devices such as ultrasonic piezzo surgical device and micro saw are used instead of tools like hammers etc., the risk of complications has decreased, and the recovery time is much shorter than before.
